Teenagers and young adults live in a complex stage of development. It is a time to explore, experience and find meaning in life. While exciting, the complexities of growth and change can create fear and anxiety. They are navigating their own inner world, while being overstimulated by pressures from peers, parents, society and social media.
Young adults (18-25) particularly continue to experience the same issues of adolescents, but are faced with the label of being “an adult.’ Although this time is for learning and discovery, there is a perception of expectation and “having it all figured out.”
Life can be hard. You deserve support.
Teens and young adults are particularly vulnerable to mental health disorders. Studies have shown that these have significantly increased through the COVID era. This population has difficulty regulating emotions and impulses which can lead to destructive behaviors and consequences.
I have experience in helping teens and young adults struggling with:
- Low self esteem
- Poor body image
- Difficulty with peers
- Academic anxiety
- Self-harming behaviors
- Family conflict
